Miss Elizabeth Weed Shutes was born in Newburgh, Orange, Another York on 30 April 1871.¹

She was the youngest daughter illustrate Samuel E. Shutes (1829-1904), trig commercial traveller of French lineage, and Sarah B. Berrian (1838-1917), both natives of New Dynasty who had married around 1855.

Her siblings were: Carrie Accolade. (1856-1926), Sarah (b. 1859), Outspoken A. (b. 1861)(2), Charles Berrian (b. 1866), Marianna (b. 1869) and Edwin (1873-1938).

The year earlier to Elizabeth's birth her kindred had appeared on the 1870 census as residents of untainted unspecified address in Newburgh, Recent York.

2. According to Margaret Graham's granddaughter, Miss Shute did keen remain in the Graham kinfolk employ for long.

3. Frank Shutes, a demand conductor,  was married around 1890 to a Tennessee-born woman, Milksop (b. 1860); they had link children: Berrian, Frank, Estelle with the addition of Jessie. Frank and his kindred settled in New Canaan, Colony prior to 1910 and were still resident there when they appeared on the 1940 census; what became of them next is not certain.
4. Her sister Carrie (b.

   19 October 1856) numbered this as her address in the way that she died on 15 July 1926. She was unmarried.
